Are you like me trying to concentrate on the positive and wonderful things in life? Are you trying to ignore the madness, the negativity and stupidity that often encircles us? More so the sheer wickedness that many spout on social media.
I am grateful for the joy and laughter that often encompasses my day, as I am able to celebrate many years of working with children. But what is happening to our youth, the nonsense being promoted in many of our universities and the awful decline in law and order on the streets of the UK?
Am I waking up like so many hundreds of others – if not thousands – who have had enough of the decline in our homeland, and wondering is there something more I should do? Oh, if I were 20 years younger! But some would say age is immaterial, we are as old or young as we feel. Hum! That can change on a daily basis!
Well, this week, I laughed out loud when I attended a publishing association meeting and declared after a break from my writing, I am now fully committed to ‘pick up where I left off,’ and move forward again. Yes, I feel a dose of that great Yorkshire Grit coming on, and maybe it’s time I took my own advice. I have spoken at Womens’ conferences encouraging others not to give in, to push through and fulfil the Legacy that we all carry within. There is always more to life, but sadly many people never achieve their full potential because it becomes too arduous. So, I digress! What brought laughter to my soul at the publishing meeting was when someone informed me that the term brainstorming was not politically correct anymore. Whaaat!
Yes, I spoke about revisiting my old journals, rescuing all those half-written stories just waiting to be finished and with great delight I was brainstorming, plotting and planning
Where on earth had my colleague heard such nonsense? Well, I did a little research and did find some material online to substantiate their comments.
So, my comment is, I have no time for this ridiculous political correctness anymore. Doesn’t everyone have a brain? And the latest to be heard in the media is we should not shout ‘man overboard,’ if someone has a mishap. The Royal Yachting Association says it is an offensive term and not inclusive of women and non-binary people. Now that does lead me to ask the question again, doesn’t everyone have a brain? Do the people who come up with this rubbish really think if someone has fallen overboard, they really care how you address their gender.
Dear God, when will this madness end? As for me, I will say what I say, with kindness and sincerity and if people want to be offended then they need to re prioritise their lives.
If I ask you where you are from it is probably because I want to say, ‘I like your accent.’ If I ask you your name and state it is unusual you have no need to get all defensive and angrily inform me that it is non-binary. I was probably going to compliment you. And don’t ever wave a racist card in my face because I have different views to you.
I respect your views; you respect mine and we all get along just great.
So, on that note, lets work together to help the World’s children. To put a smile on their faces, laughter in their souls and may all their needs be met.
Amen
