School in Staffordshire awarded ‘exceptional’ Ofsted report

December 15, 2011

A school in Staffordshire has been awarded 30 outstanding grades in its latest Ofsted inspection and was described as a place where "no pupil is left behind" and staff and pupils are "exceptionally well" cared for.

St Filumena's Catholic Primary in Caverswall was given the high-standard report after its inspection, which takes place every four years.

The officer described the school as committed to its students' needs and said that the pupils are "totally absorbed" in action-packed lessons.

Headteacher Michael Wheatley said he encourages teachers to make learning fun and interactive.

He told This Is Staffordshire: "For one theme, we looked at the story, The Midnight Man, and arranged for a black stallion to appear on the field. It charged up and down, reared up and trotted off."

Ofsted also found that parents were incredibly supportive of the school's efforts and that this has led to it being so educationally evolved and successful.
