Mexican Music Awards celebrate regional music

The organisers of the first-ever Mexican Music Awards have announced a star-studded line up of performers for its live show in October.

An impressive roster has been released which states that Jenni Rivera, Gerardo Ortiz and Larry Hernandez, Julion Alvarez y su Nortno Banda, and iconic group Intocable will be performing on the night of the awards, to be held in Los Angeles.

Premios Billboard de la Musica Mexicana will celebrate the albums, songs and most popular singers of regional Mexican music, as measured by the US Billboard charts.

Billboard will reward finalists who have performed best in their charts throughout the year with a much-coveted gong.

Awards include publisher, publishing corporation, producer, songwriter, album and airplay imprint of the year, and album and airplay label of the year.

A total of 32 awards will be given to winners on the night of October 27th. The Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles will host the musical event, which will air nationwide on Mexican channel Telemundo.

Julion Alvarez y Su Norteno Banda are currently at the top of the regional Mexican music Billboard charts with Olvidame.
