¡Conocerlo es amarlo!  ( transalated: knowing it, is loving it! )

I finished my last blog with the question; do I really want to go back to Mexico? And the answer is most certainly yes! I can’t wait.
Yeah there’s a lot of bad publicity at the moment, especially relating to the drugs and this country certainly has its problems, but then which one doesn’t?
I have visited Mexico City many times and always felt quite safe, but as a tourist in any major city of the world, you would obviously have to be street wise and take sensible precautions.
Don’t take a local unmarked taxi, take one of the registered taxis for example, and don’t go wandering down lonely back streets on your own and of course dress appropriately. Girls you don’t need a large handbag for all those so called essentials, put your lippy in your pocket and take a small shoulder bag.  Unlike me who went with my humanitarian hat on and wandered all over! I suggest you book a planned and organised holiday or at least take trips with somebody like the Mexican Tourist Board. Discover the beauties of Mexico and find out why I could happily live there. Have you ever tasted REAL Mexican food? Absolutely delicious! The flavours, the colours and the presentation lead me to realise how boring our food is. There is nothing more fabulous than to be serenaded by a mariachi band whilst sipping a margarita or downing a shot of tequila.
Some of the best things to see and do in Mexico are within a day’s travel of the capital. Many of them, such as the ancient city of Teotihuacán or the picturesque town of Tepoztlán, can easily be visited as day trips. Other destinations, such as the colonial cities of Puebla and Taxco, are a bit farther away and have so many attractions that you should plan to spend at least one night.
I have yet to visit Oaxaca-which is next on my list, and I will let you into a secret. Dolita, the main protagonist in the Chavos series takes a trip to Oaxaca in book 3. Puerto Vallarta and Vera Cruz and many of the other places in Mexico which I know offer such beauty and culture of their own are on my to do list.
Mexican culture and customs are fascinating, a reflection of the complexity of the country’s history. And finally, I must get back to Guadalajara, Jalisco soon. It is the second largest city in Mexico. So worth a visit. Actually it is the birth place of tequila, mariachi and charros or Mexican cowboys.  Finally, I long to see my Mexican friends who live in both Guadalajara and Mexico City.

Mexico is worth a visit so find out more.
