Seville

October 22, 2018

Seville has to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The capital of Andalusia in Spain, this 2200 year old city has been voted the top place to visit in 2018 by the Lonely Planet guide. A city which has been on my bucket list for far too long, I finally managed a few days there recently. I definitely have to return when time permits.

A pleasant scenic route on the train from Malaga it would have been foolish to drive. Once in Seville we walked everywhere and of course were on and off the turi-bus with regularity. The Gothic architecture, narrow streets, horse-drawn carriages and the best tapas in Spain, what a fabulous few days.

Below you will see a couple of photos I took in the vicinity of the Plaza de Espana.

Of course I have dozens of photos but anyone interested in the city can find plenty of images on the net, what you won’t find is these two precious little sweethearts.

Yes, I inadvertently wandered into the grounds of a stunning church – Iglesias de Santa Maria la Blanca – during a Sevillian wedding. The bride looked fabulous as most brides do, but the elegance of the Sicilian ladies and their stunning attire could not be matched anywhere. Sorry, but the UK Royal Weddings have nothing on these ladies.

With kind permission, this tourist dressed in leggings and a scanty top was mingling with guests who where happy for me to snap away.

Made my day!

Wow!

So Seville remains on the bucket list. I have to return, as I only saw a fraction of what there is to see. It was great to walk around the bull-ring and admire the architecture, but the thought of what goes on at entertainment time sickens me. Yes, as people where queuing to buy tickets for the early evening show, I even dared to challenge a couple as to why they wanted to go in and watch such a disgusting sport. Fortunately the conversation was light and we simply agreed to differ.

Each to their own.
